Thoughts on Being a Guest Speaker

Well, today I “surprisingly” found myself attending the “CSI Nights” event of the I love Iloilo team by Gawad Kalinga – I was listening to three amazing speakers and let’s just say I got inspired of what they were discussing. After the forum and the little chit-chats, I came across a college friend, Tracy. Yeah. Small city! :) So I said “Hi.” – technically I said her name… then for a brief moment, I disappeared like a pro ninja!

Stepping Out of that Comfort Zone

laid back

I admit I took very simple things for granted. I grew up with almost everything provided for me – I consider myself as one of those “lucky” people probably born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I depended too much on household helps that it took me 21 years to realize that I don’t know how to survive without someone to rely on. This is what I have learned in Cebu for my week long exposure as a work crew in Young Life Summer Camp for High School students. Seriously? Yes.

Annoying Kids On Air!

Repack your things because you think your luggage is overweight. You rush to the airport and prepare for boarding. You take a nice seat near the window where the sun is there to kiss your cheeks full of joy and your face gleaming with a twist of adventure. (Ok. That’s already over-the-top!) As the plane prepares for take off… you sit back and relax and adore the puffy clouds up up in the air.

My Airport Adventure. :) Continue reading

The “OMG Don’t Panic” Spirit

My annual position as the “kid-who-gets-everything-she-wants-during-Christmas” slowly and uneasily started kicking me out. We sure had that glorifying place when we we’re young, right? Say around our pre-teens, perhaps? You say “Papa, I want this and that and ooh, those” and then when it’s that precious time to open the gifts, you get what you really wanted? Sheesh. :( And your eyes water because of sheer astonishment? Blaaah! I’m not that kid anymore! Now, I assume the role of the “present-giver” because I got my degree and all. Haha! Sour-graping much?

I used to look like this when I was a spoiled child. Just kidding. Hahaha! Continue reading
